Well, facebook is like twitter its good for advertising/promoting, but you can to have the followers to do so, or its a waste of time

Facebook is good for advertising and I have an idea for you , create new facebook account, put there some kind of star photo, invite as many people as you can, and the start advertising/promoting whatever you want. Good luck lol

I use my profiles and pages to do this. Sometimes I use groups too but no one really pays attention to those anymore.

yeah post links on fan pages and share with your friends ...you can get good amount of traffic from facebook

I think it helps if you make Fan Page and start having fans, but making sure your fans aren't spam, so that they are targeted to the right audience. And you can post any updates to Facebook, and those viewers will be the first to be notified of those updates since everyone is literally always on fb.

To increase the number of people who are following your Facebook fan page, you can drive them there through links on your website and emails as well as through Facebook advertising. Once people get to your page, make sure you have a nice landing page tab which sets out your key brand messages. It would also be nice if you have a nice facebook layout to make them want to keep on coming and staying in your page. You should also regularly update your page so your visitors will not unlike your page.
