As far as I have used twitter, I only found simple following people and posting tweets feature in it.
Is there any other feature that I can use to connect with people?

Now with twitter, you not only do just simple text tweets but could share your images directly with it which earlier used to done via tools available online. Also, now it previews youtube videos and the summary of your posted links. If you are unable to find people of your liking so far, you should follow some of trends and comment on it. This way you will get to participate in interesting debates and will gain natural followers impressed by your posts.

There are many features in twitter by which you can reach to more people and your post seen by much more users. First thing, you can include the username of famous people or pages in your tweet which are relevant to your tweet and if anyone of them found your tweet worth sharing you can get a ton of traffic.
