we are looking to host our site, which shall be accessed by several 100,000 people on a monthly basis and upto several thousand's at the same time.

Not looking for a cheap solution, but indeed the most secured, completely managed solution.

Can i please get some recommendation.

Also, i would prefer to host it in India. Any suggestions on that.

I believe you may found something among the offerings of those. no point of getting a service form unknon providers, because there is a high risk of scam.

Hm... I've already interested about ahosting.biz and hostgator.com and I'd like to characterize them in few words. The thing is that they provide high quality, affordable, feature rich web hosting packages for your business and personal website. Bisides, they propose cheap prices for the recommended hosting packages and support team is very attentive to their clients respectively. Well, I was under the impression of them.

It seems you have already asked about them in other thread, so if you are discouraged by their price, I may say it is reasonable deal, which just seems to be expensive, whicle other companies finally will charge approximately the same price for possibly worse service.

Your title said VPS or dedicated, but haven't really had a reply to that as you don't mention it in your message itself.

I would recommend dedicated if your top priority is security, next go for Linux not windows on the server.

You said based in India but the majority are not there for the volume you are talking I would recommend AN hosting as they are really reliable and responsive unlike some of the others mentioned here you will not be compromise by overselling since you are looking at dedicated.

As for options in India I would suggest you get a local IT company to set up dual servers on your own site with a support package and battery back up if you have an adequate connection to service the needs you indiacted

I am sure that VPS hosting would be the best solution for you. I strongly recommend you Serverpoint.com for Linux and Windows VPS servers which has: 8 xeon cores, backups done a few times a day, minimum 32GBs of RAM per node, RAID10 storage (8 drives or more), redundant power (with redundant feeds), etc. Linux platform will be more cheaper and easy.

Dedicated servers are better because if it goes down you lose multiple VPS's, it's much easier fixing one dedicated server rather than multiple VPS servers
