      Re: Running your own servers

The expenses related to the basic hardware, speed of internet connection etc. that are necessary to run a dedicated server and other costs associated with it are too high as compared to that of having a shared host.

        Re: Running your own servers

Setting up your own dedicated server at home for webhosting is a good training ground because you can learn better the techical aspect having a direct access to your own physical hardware. For commercial purposes, home based webhosting is unreliable.

I am in the moment of building a server lol and have connections and sorted out a seprate bill for it which is 40 % cheaper because its just for the server as for the server it's a beast

                  Re: Running your own servers

it proves too expensive for us to set up our own server. a server has to meet great needs to satisfy the clients. i tried it as a part of project but ended up in partial succes only. it ate away all the resources. so unless we dont do any hosting or server side applications there is no need to go for servers for our home pc.

Agree. Better to find fully managed server solution. It will save your time and money.

                              Running your own servers

I think to run your own server on your home PC is an expensive and useless thing. You have to have a lot of features on your PC and very well electricity and Internet supply.its not easy to start server because it needs electric, bandwidth , connections etc.

I think it is not advisable. I much prefer to host somewhere. There will more recurrent expenses that you have to spend such as electricity bills, physical firewalls, anti virus software etc
