  • Do it yourself or hire?

For newbies like me who has little understanding in script installation, do we wait till we are familiar and comfortable in installing scripts before starting a site or just hire someone to do it for you?

I think you should do both. If you want to get a site up and running soon then hire somebody to install the script for you. It probably will not cost you more than a few dollars. Then when you have some free time on your hands learn how to do the installation yourself.

The hardest thing for most newbies is creating the database, adding a user and adding that user to the database. If you can get that far and then follow directions the rest can range from easy to moderately difficult depending on the script.

Usually editing one configure file is about all you have to do.

Well, if you have enough money, then you can just simply hire a person who'll design your website. But, professional web designers will charge you a lot of money. So, I think you should wait and learn HTML and then move on and design the website.

Ofcourse its better to hire a good designer, but if you want to do that for free, then you havo to do that iwthout hired persons

I would hire someone to do it for if I don't know how to do it and I'm in a hurry (so I don't have time to learn) If not, I would prefer doing it myself.

For my paranoia, I now do everything myself. Down to server installation, I never even use 'AIO' packages (such as xampp). I just have to 'ride it out'

self learning improves you but if you don't have time for this and have money in the valet you can go for hiring too.

I usually try to learn what to do first and if that doesn't work, then I hire someone. It's kind alike when I try to fix the plumbing and when it's leaking all over, then I hire a plumber. Or maybe not.
