Yep, I had some forums running on my own. Mostly warez, but also music forums. I quited with managing them because I didn't had the time needed for administrating.

I'm thinking about opening a forum with myBB too. But what worries me is that its lack of mods. Otherwise it seems a great forum script. Have the look of vBulletin and better security then phpBB.

yeah that was best one before buying vbulletin i have used mybb and at the time their members was good in support and making mods etc but later they stopped and they even dont give permission someone to edit their mods and redistribute

I had a forum for maybe 4 years ago, when I used PHP-Nuke, which apparently is not as popular any longer, but unfortunately i became a victim of a spammer.

I started to run a forum, but really enough to speak, I too. It is a great amount of work and advertising for a forum in progress. I have decided to time, make other work. I ran at the time PHPBB2.

I am just beginning in forums and am just trying to get one off the ground so any assistance and support would be greatly appreciated. I really like vbulliten but am not prepared to shell out that much just yet. So I am playing with SMF.
Its ok but my main concern is security

ohhhh forums dont get me started, i have run millions and they all shut for the same lame old reason.... lack of users.

The software i used ranged from PHPBB3 (Most of the time) to SMF if i fancied a change

I used to run a IPB forum, but I stopped managing it because it became too time-consuming. I didn't want to have to keep advertising the forum, starting new threads, and moderating posts.

                              I ran a webmaster forum.
I used vb with vb custom template and with a custom directory and custom skin also.
                              cost me about $400.

I run a forum with phpbb3, because it is free and i extend it to my needs.
I used ipb before, but gave my admin position away. IPB is my choice because it is better than vbulletin in my eyes.
