  • Lost the password of admin panel

I have lost the password of admin panel of my phplinkdirectory site. Is there any possibility to retrieve it by cpanel. Someone told me that it is possible if you edit the database in cpanel. Username and password would be somewhere inside the database. However I dont know how to do it. Any help is appreciated.. Thanks..

Here best way is to contact your hosting provider in this regard. You can not retrieve password in cPanel. However you can change the password.

Check phplinkdirectory official forum. I think I saw a topic there related to this. I think they have some kind of page which would reset the password. Hosting provider can't do much about it. Password is encrypted.

The hosting provider can change the admin password through phpmyadmin. They can remove the password and set the new password and save it. Once the password get changed they browse the table and again set the function value to MD5, so that the new password gets encrypted.

Contact your hosting provider, they should be able to do.

If I were you I can simply keep trying, or backup the site and reinstalled it. then importing from the backups without changing admin's passwords... good luck

It should be possible, but I don't know the db structure off the top of my head and don't have an phplinkdirectory install handy to look it up.

                    But the basic steps are:

                    1) login to the db, using a tool like phpmyadmin
                    2) find where the password is stored. It may be in a "users" table, or a settings table
                    3) Check to see if the password is stored in plaintext (with would be a security risk so it's unlikely) if so, you can just edit the password there
                    4) If it's hashed, try common formats like md5, you'll want to generate a hash of the password you want to use (you can find md5 generators through a search engine) and then update the db to use your new hashed password

get a backup of your mysqld database
reinstall your phplinkdirectory (deleting and uploading files again
put back the database (the tables which contain links data only)

                      thats it!

You can recover lots password by requesting for a new password from the hosting providers. Most of hosting providers will generate new password very quickly.

Hosting providers might not be able to help you much in this case as generally the password that is generated is automated and encrypted.
