Need help on using a VPS for storage

Hello,

I recently found an unmanaged vps to store all my cPanel backup files which is cheaper than the one I'm currently using. Right now, I have 50-60gb of backup files. I want to move to this budget VPS provider which seems to be reputable based from the reviews I found.

I will be using that VPS solely for storage as the processing of getting the complete backups is done by another high-end VPS. With my current setup, I'm using SSH and SFTP to access the files. The script that sends the files to the server uses FTP connection.

Shared Hosting Servers <-- Backup Script ---> Storage Server

I have a series of questions that I hope you could help me:
1) Can a VPS with 128mb that I will be using for storage can accommodate the transfer and downloading of files?
2) I don't think I will be needing a control panel here, I'm familiar with the command line (but not much), besides from SSH and SFTP what other packages do I need?
3) What security measures should I take care of?

Please reply with your opinions and other details that I need to consider.
