Root with VPS?

Hi Guys,

I dont really know much about VPS, but this is my main question, do you get root access on it? Allowing me to create reseller accounts, etc.

Also, how many max people can there be on the VPS? and Does this mean there are that many root accounts?

Does each part of the server have a different control panel. So say 2 people were on the same VPS, one wanted cPanel, and one wanted DirectAdmin. Would it be possible?

Sorry if these questions seem dumb, but I'm just trying to find out about VPS.

Most VPS yes allow root access, its pretty rare to see a VPS without root access. When you say reseller accounts, are you referring to using a control panel like cPanel, DirectAdmin, etc, to then offer hosting? Yes this is definitely possible, however you would need to obtain a license and install it, although there are plenty of free control panels as well like Kloxo.

How many people on a VPS? Pretty much impossible to answer especially without knowing the specs. There would only be one 'root' account however you could give access to other accounts or you can sudo into root from another account.

Hosting anything more than one control panel per VPS is never recommended, and honestly shouldn't be done. Each control panels has many different requirements, you would run into a lot of issues.

You get root access with a VPS. For security reasons you should not share root access with anyone else. Root control the whole server, you will be able to manage all user accounts. while its possible to run more than one control panel, its not recommended since they would definitely interfere with one another
