  • Web Hosting Trends in 2008

What do you think the web hosting trends will be in 2008? I think bandwidth, as it becomes cheaper, will bring the prices down. Also, that VPS and Dedicated will start to close the gap with shared.

Trends? Im not sure if the market will be taken over by trends. However I would say that as bandwith gets cheaper the prices will surely come down.

As the years go by, majority of the internet will fall cheaper. About 10-20 years ago, Domains costed nearly $200! Now, it's being offered as low as $2.90.

Of course the price will drop. We just have to wait.

Yeah, cheaper is definitely in the future, but I do think it will level out at some point. Disk storage should go up as new drives come out. Heck, I remember 10MB drives, now they got 1TB drives.

I completely agree with you guys. The prices have gone down and as we see more and more web hosting companies wanting their share of site hosting, the prices will continue to go down. Big companies will start offering a whole lot more features too. We'll be seeing a whole lot more resellers in the market...just beware of those oversellers.

Where can you get a domain at $2.90???
as far as I know .com at namecheap.com costs about $9.00, eurodns.com offers it at 18.00 ˆ (still you can get 50% off with their coupon).

From what's going on in the industry, it's clear there's no sense to compete on the price alone in the industry, one should think of the quality and range of services. I hope cheap=budget hosts with terrabytes of resources have realized that. And now from the requests at forums, I see that more and more people arel ooking for a host with no or minimal overselling and realizing that uptime and support they need cost money. And I guess that small and average-sized companies of the a2hosting.com, axishost.com, hostican.com, imountain.com and sibername.com type will get the bigger share of clients.

I think year 2008, especielly the autumn of it will make prices much more cheaper. We'll see propably more competition and lesser prices. Good for users at least. I think that companies will also improve their customer service as time of playing has ended.
