Is a linux based server more safer

Hi friends.
I wanted to know that is linux based server more safer than a windows based server.
by safer i mean that more resistant to hacking.

are you managing the server or are you using reseller / shared hosting.


for reseller or shared you don't need to be concerned with hacker's if attack happen's that all the user's on that server will get affected,

and in the mean time you can't do anything on your own.

but for VPS or dedi's you definetely should go with linux server and harden it also.

coz any o.s. without hardening is a sitting duck for crack attempts.

but mostly members dont worry abbout that bcoz all they using reseller or shared n all haddeck goes to server admin..

Yes it is. But mostly datacenters are attacked by DDOS (service blocking), which doesn't care is your server linux or windows, so I'd say it isn't that important in that case. But if your site has important stuff, I'd recommend linux.

the problem is buddy linux can handle ddos attack's more easily the windows.

simplest method used is to drop the ICMP packet's from unknown ip range.

Yup based on what I have seen, linux servers are more capable of handling a DDOS attack and are harder to hack into by unscrupulous users.
