Don't know which to choose: semi-dedi or dedi from DownTownHost.com. Their shared package plan isn't enough for my business but I am in two minds which to stick to.
    What would you advise me?

It depends on what you need and what you can afford. If you can afford a dedicated server, I'd go with that. If not, then go with the semi-dedicated server.

I don't advice it because it is a reseller of caro.net, that has its datacenter in NewYork.
You pay $115 more at downtownhost but caro isn't very cheaper too in dedicated server business.

If you are buying from a reseller, make sure that support is top priority, as if support is lacking, then it'll be hell for you.

Especially since the resellers might have to go thru the actual host in order for them to get support for your box.

I think if the OP had shared web hosting, semi-dedi from Downtownhost.com will be all right for that.
In any way he may update it woth time if his web site will overload the host's server.

I have personally read a lot of positive reviews about downtownhost.com services and think they are trustworthy. This company has been in this industry long enough to be trusted.

What kind of business is it and how much space and bandwidth would you need for your business?

I suppose you already know that semi-dedicated is the same as the shared hosting, just larger. I think the next logical step of upgrade has to be VPS or dedicated server, which enables you to get more admin access and manage everything by yourself. However, if you do not have enough experience - semi-dedi might be suiteble for you...

I wouldn't go with a reseller, just go to the real thing or use host gator, they are great! http://hostgator.com

                      Good luck with hosting!

I think that the next logical stage of the levelling must be VPS or devoted waiter, which allows you to obtain more access of admin and to control all by yourself. However, if you do not have enough experiment - the semione could be suiteble for you.
