  • What is the difference between cPanel and dotnetpanel?

I am going to buy VPS hosting plan at serverpoint.com and found out that this honest company offered cPanel, dotnetpanel (I have never heard baout this control panel), etc. Could anyone tell me the difference between these two control panels? Also feel free to leave your attitude towards this company!

Serverpoint.com offers cPanel for Linux service and Dotnetpanel for Windows services. Both panels are usable and nice.
Have you chosen the panel already?

As you may see, serverpoint.com has good reputation and you can undoubtedly deal with it. If you are going to buy Linux web hosting, I can highly recommend you to choose cPanel control panel, because it is the most preferable control panel which is very easy to operate with.

I think it depends on what kinda server you want to use. A Linux server or windows server. For Linux servers I don't they offer you dotnetpanel. If you don't have a specific need to get a window server go for a Linux server with cpanel.

I'm not sure about dotnetpanel. I've used ENSIM and PLESK and CPANEL.

All I can say is NOTHING can compare to cpanel. Sure it's expensive and large, but what it provides in terms of features and security is INCOMPARABLE to any other control panel out there.

I know polls done on hosting forums and websites have shown CPANEL being a top favorite control panel used widely.

Panel will definately bring some competition to the market, however cPanel does have downfalls on windows platform that are standards for Windows control panels such as:

Windows Control Panels typically include support for multiple 3rd party software so admins can choose the server applications of their preference. Cpanel on linux dictates that only specific 3rd party apps can be used. This makes it easy to troubleshoot since everything is "static" but not good for picky markets.

Most (except for Plesk) Windows control panels offer integration of services from multiple servers, a key point in the success as each service can then be offloaded to a separate remote servers designed around specific functions. It doesn't appear as though cPanel is ready to take on multi-server configurations under one control panel for their Windows release.

Smartertools has made big steps in client usage, and require purchased licenses, what is going to convince these admins to drop smartertools and pick up the cPanel services?

cPanel will most likely provide excellent MySQL support, but MSSQL support looks weak.

If cPanel isn't offering linux x windows side by side support, as in some form of integration of both platforms in their WHM management app.
