  • Tips for Buying Web Hosting

Buying a already built hosting company can be very good as most of the work is done for you but I would suggest you check the following:

    1) Do a number of google searches with the companies name and see what sort of results come up
    2) Check on as many review sites to see what (if any) customers think of the company
    3) Ask to see all records relating to income & expenses
    4) Also ask to see a full list of clients / accounts with details like when they joined and if any of the clients have special requirements
    5) Check the location & company that hosts the server/vps/reseller account and see if you may have problems with them
    6) Try and base your offer on the amount of income that the company gets from their older clients not ones that have just joined.

Hope that helps I probably have missed some ideas but sure other members here will comment..

You also need to know why the owner on the company want to sell it.

Above all we all want to know that will the company provide immediate support for the issue!!! Thats the very big problem now-a-days... the company talk good and sell their space but when it come to service.. they lack more than we expect. We don't see their face and asking for help...its online and the support is very essential.

I believe the OP is talking about tips for buying an existing hosting company, not buying hosting plans.

Yeah, one of the most basic question to ask that the OP forgets to include. Hmmm.. Through this, you would be able to identify some serious reasons why they're looking for buyers and what's in there that they're giving it up despite good statistic (if they tend to show it or the web hosting appears to have a good ROI and reputable).

Choosing a right web hosting service for your website is not the easiest task in the world, especially when there are thousands of web hosting providers all offering almost identical web hosting packages. Do inquiry deeply about these things:

                  Disk space & Bandwidth requirement
                  Server platform and hardware requirements
                  Reliability and scalability
                  Customer service and support

The kind of hosting that claims to have unmetered bandwidth are hosting providers and do not measure, monitor or watch and keep track of how much bandwidth you are using or how much you have already used up and how much more bandwidth is available for the rest of the month. If you login to your cPanel account you will notice on the left sidebar that it indicates how much disk space, add-on domains, sub-domain, MySQL databases, emails, ftp accounts and bandwidth you have use. That is the utility you may use to track your average bandwidth usage.

I would always check for the credibility, user reviews and uptime guarantee before i purchase a web hosting service.
