Could I get leads with SEO?

The process of getting my site optimized is what I have just begun. The way in which it shapes up is what I really wish to know. With search engine optimization, I wish to get as many leads as possible. Is there a way in which this can be done? With the help of directory submission, Squidoo, social bookmarking or classified ads, is there any way in which I could leads? In terms of getting these leads and the lead perception, I am not very knowledgeable. Are there any experienced professionals who can share their thoughts on this particular topic?
