I'll try to explain what I'm trying to do as best as I can, and I'm looking for suggestions as to how I can accomplish this i.e VPS vs Dedicated and possible providers or any easier method than what is written here.
We are implementing a web-based solution for a company who does not allow their employees access to the internet. They are restricted to applications running on their local intranet, and installing new servers within their infrastructure is not an option, however establishing a dedicated VPN connection between one of their routers and us would be an option.
We are not hosting the service that these employees will be accessing (a 3rd party company already provides this service in an ASP model), and we would need to create a secure pass-through so users can basically go on the internet through us, and only be able to visit the site offered by the ASP provider. For this I was thinking of implementing a VPN solution such as Openswan and Squid as a proxy server.
This pass-through would be hosted by a provider.
Would this be the best way to proceed for a solution like this, and would a VPS allow me to do this or would it have to be dedicated?
