Location of server and SEO

Yes location effects SEO as you might target visitors from that particular host location or round the Globe.

if your server host too many sites having lots of spam links it might be harmful for your rankings.. but in generally the answer is no..
Remember too many backlinks means more than 4-5 million backlinks..

on speed it is always matters.. my site's host is in canda and in canada my site load speed is fatest then any other country in the world.

That is such a discussed question and always gives birth to various and contrasting opinions. I will share my impressions.

For SEO specifically, the location of the hosting servers makes no difference. SEO is a complex process that is affected by many factors, but this is certainly not one of them. Talking about website speed, however, I do admit the geolocation makes a difference but often times it is very minuscule. This is why I always share the same advice - it all depends on your target group of customers and aims of your business.

If you are going for a local business then your best bet is to go with a local host. Its not that your visitors will see a major improvement of speed, but if you targeting such specific locations, this will just give them more trust in you and your services.

Now if you are after a global crowd the location of your servers makes no difference. Sure, the speed would not be the same everywhere, but the deviation is very small and has no visible effect.
