I look 24/7 support, 99% uptime and control over your website. The second thing I would go for is price, and thirdly, features.

I look at there support/sales speed, uptime. then i look at the price and the features i get for that.

The most important thing I look for in a host is it's quality ranking over at cnet.com. Other than that if I see quite a few other webmasters using the service I will usually lean toward them also.

Knowledgeable support rep's
Uptime (although most hosts have very good uptime anyways.)

I think the single most important factor in evaluating a host is the responsiveness of support. Issues happen with any host; what makes one host different from the others is quality, knowledgeable, 24/7 support.

Quality over quantity is my priority when it comes to evaluating a host, and quality support is the main component of it.
I'll stay with my host hqhost.net as long as they provide this type of service.
