So, can you comment on these VPS hosting plans?

There's quite a few companies that offer a discount on yearly payments. I'd say it's an attractive attempt of getting people to pay yearly which means the customers will sign up for a long term contract.

Personally I would not recommend throwing yourself into a yearly contract unless you know the host and are sure that they'll provide the service you like. I'd say sign up paying monthly first, and change to a yearly payment later once you know the service is good.

Another option would be to find out what were to happen if you had to cancel say 5 months in. For example if you outgrow the VPS plan and have to switch to dedicated hosting, or you found a better deal elsewhere. Would you get your money back for the months you haven't 'used'? If the answer is yes, it's a nice opportunity for everyone.
