Hosting is a place where a huge computer ( I mean powerful that is), with lot of space that can host websites and blogs. Usually the admin of the hosting will rent it to people with a sum of money. Hosting computer must have a very high speed intenet so and must online 24/7 so that user website will be available to the net.

I'll take a crack at answering this one:

"what is hosting"?

A file on your computer is visible only to you
A file on the web is visible to all

If you want a website to be visible (Live on the web) you have to have it published somewhere.

Let's say you create a file, an html file (a web page) and you create it on your personal computer... you can view it, it is published only on your computer.

now if you want that file (web page) to be viewable on the web, it has to be 'hosted' on a computer that is publishing for all as opposed to just you.

That computer "hosts" your site (and 254 other sites as well)

Its like a storage which manage your site to see it online. A sample is hard disk for your private view but hosting is for public view. That's my idea about it

According to me hosting is the process to store your site's domain on the server for uploading the site.

Web hosting is a space for web files.

If you have created a site on your computer/localhost and want your site visible on net, you need to upload all your web files to web hosting/web space.

It is like you copy your files/folders located on your Drive D to Drive C for example.

In this case, you copy your (web)files/folders located in your computer to a server.
