I learnt html programming. I know about xhtml and css as well. So my friends call me hand coder.

How about you'll are you'll a handcoder as well or you use WYSIWYG?

    Re: Coding

I would say that I myself am a handcoder, though I like to set up or have things installed so that I would neither need handcoding or WYSIWYG. I just put in what I want to see and it shows it. It's kind of both, and yet neither. I use forum software and content management systems a lot.

I am definitely hand coder. I don't fully "trust" WYSIWYG; it sometimes adds unnecessary code and so. I think hand coding is just much better

            Re: Coding

Sometimes I use WYSIWYG if I want to test a certain PHP script fast enough, cause usually I'm too lazy to code the HTML part after I finish doing all PHP programmer

However for all my webdesigns, I do the html coding for the layouts myself..

                  Re: Coding

Microsoft Frontpage put me off of WYSIWYG for life - it produced the most horrendous code I've ever seen. Netobjects Fusion was another culprit at producing bad code.

If you know HTML it is always better to code by hand as you know exactly what you are getting.

                    Re: Coding

Hardcore "Hand coder" here. Tried a few wysiwyg programs when I first started but they were all unpredictable and ultimately harder to figure out than just breaking down and learning how to write what "I" wanted without some program deciding it (incorrectly) knew better.

No fancy programs either - just modest little ole "Notepad" and load it into my favorite (Firefox) browser to check it out.

                        Re: Coding

Honestly, I'm also not a hand coder. Still have to set my hand on it, by learning more of it.

BTW, I'm involved in embedded programming, which basically is more of C, know a lot about it, but still learning.
