For building a better website, the most important thing of course is good content and user friendly interface. Other than that, even before we totally design the website, we need to aware of some SEO basics, to get the right content (with keywords, right title, right H1&H2,etc). Having SEO on-site settings thoroughly thought of at the beginning of building up a website can save you a lot of re-do trouble later when you think about promoting your site.
