How do I create user logins for my mysql/php database?

I have a database program that I have been running on an apache server which I setup on my computer. I have hard coded into the username and passwords into every page.

I have now hired someone in my company and I now would like to add the ability to login and have permissions so that only some users can add/delete/etc.

Can someone point me to an article/tutorial on how to add this functionality to my pages please?
