HTML is actually not programming. I think it's just coding. Of course, PHP will have my vote here.

Even with php, you still need html.

            Re: Html or PHP

aglocohost is right. a PHP site (Im not talking about a scripted site) is mostly HTML.

The great thing about using php is that you can use includes. For example if you use a PHP include for your footer you will be able to make changes to the footers on all of your pages by changing only one file. Lets say you want to change the links in your footer, or you want to update the copyright notice or something like that. With straight HTML you will need to edit eahc page individually. This can be quite a chore if you have hundreds of pages! But with an include just change one file.

There are many other uses for PHP, this is just one example of how handy it can be.

              Re: Html or PHP

PHP provides dynamism and intearctivit to your site. It provides a link to a database so you can store information. HTML is helpful because it provides the necessary interface for PHP scripts.

                  Re: Html or PHP

PHP and HTML coexist. HTML makes the face of programs made in PHP. Without HTML, PHP programs are mere lines of codes and no interface with users.

                      Re: Html or PHP

Basically.. both of the language are needed and none can be preferable in one view. PHP is know as a specific language.. but HTML it is required for all site, it is inside PHP and also seperately. The best to compare is that if you would have ask for PHP/ASP then we could let you know our preferences with differences.
