  • Whats Your Pick For a Forum Software ?

I intend to start a forum but i'm a bit confused with which software i should start the forum my first preference goes to

Wordpress Then Vbulletin then Blogger , phbb , Ibp etc

What i need to know is that how reliable is each, user friendly and supportive , vb is off course a paid one , which one has better SEO and which one gives more revenue working with adsense .

    Please suggest your opinion ?

it depends, if you are going for a Professional forum then i must say go with Vbulletin, otherwise whatever suits you, download all forums RUN as Localhost and then decide which is user friendly for you.

I'd go with Invision or VBulletin. I haven't used VBulletin yet (as an admin, obviously), but I've been told it's very reliable and stable. Invision is also pretty good, and has lots of cool designs for it. The bad thing about these two forums is that you have to pay for them.

If you want something free, you have phpbb and smf. SMF is safer to use, but phpbb is easier. It depends on what you prefer

I would always sway towards PHPBB3 or SMF both work great and the admin areas are so easy on the eyes, with the added features you cant go wrong

vBulletin is the most complete forum package I've used. Can't go wrong there.

First off Wordpress and Blogger ares not a forums.

VB is the best IMO but you have to pay $ for it. There is a database conversion for either the PHPBB or the SMF database. I don't recall which one. This would afford you the opportunity to start with free software and upgrade to a better paid one later.

Frankly, considering how tough it is to start a forum that is the course I would choose.

Well I can't afford paid forum scripts so I go for phpbb, smf, mybb but I currently am sticking with phpbb and smf they are best.

The most popular website forums on the Internet are usually phpbb, IPB, or Vbulletin. Those three are good to use because they offer extra add-ons that can enhance the forum. IPB and Vbulletin are not free, but I believe they are worth the price.

if it is paid, i'd go for vbulletin all the way. you got what you paid for.
but if it is free, i'd rather use SMF for better forum security.

I like the features in vbulletin better than phpbb. I tried phpbb and my forums comes out with some unfixed bugs.

I have tried almost "all" the forum software avalible. I used to like phpBB and IPB, but when I started to set up forums for professional websites, I started to use vB instead. It's (in my opinion) much more functional and fun to use, both for the users and the admins.

Phpbb3 with some addons would be a good start.
I am using it 1 year now and its really good.
