Suggestion needed

One of my designer is asking for per hour work, I dont think it is a good idea to pay per hour especially for webdesign as you can not monitor it. what do u think?

are you trying to become bankrupt?, this guy can be working for 200 hours lol. He will do one thing each hour. Just give him an estimate price on the product and how much you offer. You have to be in control

Thats what I asked but he has huge portfolio and he says he only work on hourly basis. I think I'm gonna find someone else.

Alot of the more developed freelance designers prefer to get paid by the hour and that is ok. What you have to do is make sure you tell him what time period you want each stage of the project finished by and also set a max-price you are willing to pay for the entire project (also set it lower than what you are willing to pay ).

I don't think web design warrants a per-hour wage. It is much better to find someone willing to work for a set amount.

Well, if you know him since ages and if you can really trust him, why not?
Otherwise, i wouldn't pay per hour, cauz like you already said, you can not monitor it!

i think designers shld not be charged by hr rate..some work can be done fast and some can be done slow..

Yeah! most of the designers prefer to work hourly. So calculate approximately how many hours and give him a dead line. so that u can will get ur work done faster.

you will be broke after buying a design .. i'll make you a design if you are reallly in need man .. dont go bankrupt

Definetely not, I prefer to make web design by my own, not paying a person per hour without knowing what he/she is doing.
You will save money if you learn by yourself webdesign, there are many online tutorials to learn, though it's not difficult.

Dont ever do this mistake. Pay him usual salary per month or per design. I would recommend you to give him some bonus if you like his design.

Don't do that; he will take up a lot of time when he is just chit-chatting, atleast, that is what i would do hehe

I work on per-design, most people accept a flat rate and if they cant then move on and find someone who will, there's plenty of people out there
