Do you use tables or divs?

Hey to all the coders out there,

do you people use tables in your designs or divds? ( or both ofcourse )

I really want to know as I am working on learning divs...

i use divs only when it comes to menu's in css

I tend to still use a lot of table layouts as opposed to div layouts. Because tables are easier and I can code a design much faster. To have div layout, you have to know a bit more CSS to control its positioning. And div layouts tend to have more browser-compatibility issues.

But on the other hand, div layouts are more flexible, more SEO friendly, and less HTML tags on the page (which means better for search engines.)

I use them both. I never thought I should have one or the other. I just use what I need to make the site look and function as I wish.

I use both. But I prefer to use tables for the overall page layout. This is because tables are more stable, does not break when used across different browsers, and more importantly faster and easier to code.

But with that said, I do encourage you to learn CSS layout (or div layout as you call it). It is good to know even if it is just to read someone elses code. Only by knowing and trying both methods, will you know which one is best to use.

I use layers and tables, I dont know how to use div =(

I use tables simply because that's what I learned 5 years ago and that's what I'm used to. I don't like to learn new things unless I really really have too.
