What is Schema.org. How does it work?

Schema is the markup for <xhtml>. Schema is its own declaration. Schema was the original, alternative to xls and .css. xml originally started with schema. No Body and No One has ever been able to adequately explain the inner workings of schema to me except it is metadata for markup. Schema.org is a verification and/or validation site that will beautify the schema for metadata searches.
