Awstat is the one i use it gives detailed statistics of trafffic. Also there is statcounter but its a limited.

i use the ones that supported with my cpanel cause i see all stats that my cpanel gave me :P

I think you can code it using php. Get their IP address and store it in mysql table if it repeats then do not count it.

If you are using cpanel, you can get some great stats using Awstats, Webalizer, Latest Visitors. I normally use Awstats because it gives very detailed views, not only about visitors but also about search engine spiders.

you can use stats outside your hosting, like google analystics.This requires some html code in your pages though.

I do recommend AWstats, its very usefull and gives me the information I need.

once can even try google analytics .it shows from which region you have got visitors and evn shows unique ones

I don't advice you to use google analytics because it updates the stats too late (about a hour).
awstats is the best for cpanel hosting
