  • Your Book Collection

    Hi,

I'm just starting to learn web design now, despite having already done 6 months of a web design course. (They were a bit backwards). I'm going to be learning html, xhtml, css, dreamweaver cs3, php, mysql, javascript and web design theory (I assume this class will teach design theory, accessibility etc).

I'm also trying to build up a collection of books on the various topics and languages of web design - I prefer hard copy books over e-books. So basically I'm very interested in knowing what books are in your book collection at the moment.

If you wouldn't mind, can you list those books that you bought and actually used more then once (I'm not interested in those books that are sitting and collecting dust on your book shelf). I'll begin.

    Graphics
    - Visual Quickstart Guide: Photoshop CS2

    HTML, XHTML, CSS
    - Visual Quickstart Guide: HTML, XHTML & CSS (6th edition)

    Animation
    - Dynamic Learning: Flash CS3 Professional

    Thanks

Use Photoshop CS3 Extended instead of Photoshop 2.Learn HTML,CSS at wc3schools.com .XHTML is useless, don't bother to learn it.
And to learn Photoshop google this:

Buying books might be useless if you can learn everything for free on the Internet.
Flash, PHP, HTML, CSS etc.. all these are easy to learn by reading tutorials online. You should also sign up for Lynda.com. It costs $25/month, but it's really worth it! You will get high quality video tutorials instead of low quality YouTube videos .

and try to find this book: The Elements of User Experience by J.J Garret ; this is his site: http://jjg.net/; it really helps me a lot about understanding web design and web usability

I'm not good with names and I hate books. The only book I keep is the one used for Borland's Turbo C and C++ plus a couple of novels.
