Probably not a day goes by in a blog forum somewhere that is the question. Although you may have noticed that my preference is. The question of what is best blogging platform can be a bit of a partisan issue. True to both sides defend their platform of choice as people defend their political ideology. In my humble opinion, a blog of your own WordPress is the best choice for the beginner and advanced bloggers.
Both Blogger and Wordpress offer free hosting on blogspot.com any Blogger and WordPress.com to WordPress. Both have some limited options in terms of additional features and marketing to make money with blog hosted on their servers. Your blog can be turned off if you do not like their content. So in reality they have full control over their own intellectual property.
If you are going to get serious about staying blogs your blog on your own domain is the best option. If you started a free service and want to move to its own domain of the web is full of guides about how to move a blog to your own domain and hosting. I think the biggest difference is the option to use the plugins ... WordPress plugins blog can be much more than a blog while Blogger gives people a blog ... ceteris paribus, people who need a simple blog just for blogs and anything else you could use a Blogger account or an account of wordpress.com and would not be a difference, but when it comes to free Blogger vs WordPress, Blogger does not have no chance because of the possibility of extending wordpress ...

I prefer WordPress. I am a beginner and is easy to use WordPress and there are many others, that if there is anything you do not understand or want to correct / change, I can find easy ways to do (like this blog). Blogger does not have a lot of great options offered by WP.

I can use Blogger and WordPress. I do not think Google shows a preference for one or the other. WordPress blog gives you much more flexibility. Blogger is pretty good for someone just learning the trade or for someone who does not need the flexibility of wordpress, for any reason. If you intend to "go for" or have serious intentions for your blog, I definitely would vote to go the route paid web hosting.
