Whether one choose .net or .info as the extension of his website that totally depends upon the content of the website. If the content is related to some kind of education, then one should use .info. On the other hand if the website is based on IT related information then he must go for .net.

The propagation of any site address depends on the content they are using. If the content is somehow concerned to information technology then the denotation should be .net but if the content is concerned to education then .info is more desirable.

I don't know about .net as I've nevered registered .net's before, but between .com and .info, I have reason to believe that google prefers .com's. I used to do blackhat adsense sites in large batches so I'd register for .info's for a fraction of the price of .com's. Somewhere down the line though I did an experiment with .com's and found that they were ranked higher and stayed in the SERPs longer!

I found the same thing with my own .com sites. The .com sites seem to rank much higher on Google.

Though if i had to choose, I would actually buy a .biz domain, especially if the site were about making money or business opportunities. The .biz domain is just a given.
