Paid vs Free?

What makes a paid directory better than a free one to you? I have yet to use any but I will be using a paid one because I think it gets more exposure.

Well Premium Listings on directories will give you a better link back compared to a normal submission witch will be pushed back all the way to a page with 0pr. Personally I do not think it is worth it. Unless we are talking about the yahoo directory. That (in my opinion) is beyond worth it

I think it might be worth it if the directory is targetted to your niche. I don't think much about general directories but if I can find something in my topic, I will pay to get on the home page or a good page.

I think paid directories are better because free directories will not be advertised, where the paid ones are advertised online in many sites

Free is good when you are short on cash but you site is usually listed deep within the categories that usually has no pr and not indexed yet. Paid will ensure your site lands on pages with pr.

Paid are without a doubt better but free is quite effective if you submit to enough of them!

Obviously paid directory
But never pay for yahoo directory
its just waste of money

paid directories provide us better service rather than free directories.Direct static links with affordable featured listings are available in this quality link directory.

I agree with you guys! All in all, things work fine when it is paid. When it is free, you do not know what you are doing at all

PR is all that matters in a paid directory. If the inner-categories also have PR then I'd categorize it as good quality paid directory.

The downside to free ones is that your link may a bit take longer to be added, however, since it's free, it doesn't hurt to submit your site anyway.

I would goto free than paid. like yahoo asking $200 for its paid listing i dont see much big deal there. its better spend that money to buy few relevant back links.

Today webmasters know economic value of page rank and traffic. I really saw few non-niche directories that would brought me traffic from landing pages. Free directories are usually new ones, and linking to them will do you no good.

Well, if you pay for your directory, you'd get better service. I somehow have a little trouble with free ones.
