How do you find your host?

With all the different ways to find a hosting company out there, how do you find yours? I setup a poll so everyone can see.

I have used hosting which was offer by forum members for a while now. The best thing about them is they are really cheap biggest draw back is the uptime. for past 2 months i had to change 3 hosting providers for one of sites. and now even the latest hosting provider had a ddos attack for site is down.

I usually go by word of mouth, as that way you can guage what other people's experiences are. We originally went with Verio because at the time, it was the most reliable and solid web hosting company around. It may still be, but it's prices are a bit high. We learned of Steadfast Networks from Unixbro and we moved there. Was a very good move on our parts. We've been very happy there.

First of all, I check the web-hosting companies that have the highest rates in charts. Then, I chose those who offer free trail (usually 30 days). Finally, I chose the one that I like the most.

Here's how I found mine:
- Google searched "best budget hosting"
- Read reviews for the top 10 results from various sites
- Test their live chat support
- Check out their accepted payment methods most convenient to me
- Compared the features on offer + price

I chose a really cool host (dot5hosting) but my only flaw: I paid for 2 years in advance. NEVER do that. They're really great with uptime (whopping 100%!!!) but they didn't live up to one of their promises: multiple domains.

I've been using reseller hosting for some of my sites and I have only one thing to say about most resellers (and all that I've tried): DON'T BOTHER.

Thanks to the ones I've tried, I've lost a lot of cash and worst: I wasted a whole lot of time. It takes time to upload files onto their servers. Get people in. Numerous times, they've lost my files. I know I'm supposed to keep backups but it takes time to add content to sites. When you're finally ready to create a backup, that's when it happens: the server dies unexpectedly.

I do not use google to look for web hosts.
Instead I browse many forums such as this,and and then decide which host to use.
Generally many hosting companies offer many promos and discounts in forums.
So you will get the best deal.

Well generally I use Google, if not that I use the forums that I go to. Normally thoguh I just use free web hosts so I google in free web hosting or something and sort through the lists and find what i think is the best one, and so far I've chosen pretty good haha!

Every host that I have ever used I found via a forum. However on my current host I honestly do not know where I found it

I usally go by review sites and forums.I even got my web hosting company manashosting by forum only.I saw some good as well as bad comments on this company .But still after seeing its web contents in www.manashosting.com i decided to go for manashosting only and i'm happy to be a customer of manashosting and i dont regret now for choosing this company.I'm really happy with their service.

Forums and word of mouth, never relied on review sites, though often go to find info on hosts there. One more thing that I tend to go by is testimonials given on hosts' sites, but I only mean instances when there are urls to sites hosted with this provider,
