It depends what you need to host it If you creating "big page" (like buissnes) or something like that, then ofcourse you better take a paid domain... When i was creating page about bball at first i have taken free domain, and later (when i get more peoples registered) i have taken paid

For anyone who is just starting, I would suggest sticking it out with a free host. After your sites gains more traffic, switch to a paid host.

I only go for free hosting providers when i am just developing my site, but when i have finished it, i would move it to a paid host for better security

I LOVE free webhosts, just so many disable many script critical functions. I now use 1and1 on some of my sites.

I firmly believe in paid hosting. Dont expect to be on a free host for any longer than a year or two.

Yeah. I agree jeremyshaw for some facts. As like him, I was disabled by sending form mail (php mail function) from mail addresses which are not pointing to their hosting servers. So bad.
In free hosting, all are allowed. But free hosting are not reliable for up time.

Free hosting is better for obvious reasons, but not always because sometimes they don't give you much space, or you have to link to them, or they have ads that they put on your site.

I think we all would like to use free hosting if it is consistently reliable, but I us paid hosting. Can have problems with either but odds are better with a paid one having less problems.

free will always come with limitation. but will free hosting give reliable hosting? i can't never expect much from a free one. Thousand or maybe million people using it, how far can it be good and better than paid hosting?

The free hosting Ive used has been great but, I pay for my hosting now. I find paid hosting to be a little more reliable and I cant risk my site for the sake of a few £ a month.

I would personally say that i prefer the paid hosting to that of free hosting, as we cannot account for those with free hosting as they might not be reliable and we don't want our valuable customers to be turned down due to the downtime with free hosting.

I will prefer a paid host indeed. They are much reliable though not much affordable.
A host which is reliable and affordable are difficult to findd these days.

Free hosting is very good for newbies and those who only start - it is like the trial version of some software, which is full of bugs or works only for short time, but after using this you already know what to expect and what questions to ask.
